The Old Library Day Nursery was opened by Joanne McCarthy as a second nursery setting in September 2018, Jo originally began within this sector in her own home based childcare setting and expanded to open Happy Days Nursery in Warwick in 2016.
At The Old Library Day Nursery we offer a mixed age learning environment (age 2-5yrs) which creates a family feel. We access the local community; go shopping, visit the local care home and library as well as the park and local shop.
We want our children to be a part of the old quote “it takes a village to raise a child”. It is our intent to be a piece of the full puzzle in the child’s story by using years of collective knowledge to implement and plan an enriched environment for our children using the Birth to 5; to ensure they feel valued in a Montessori inspired setting which is unique and beautiful. We hope to help create children who can make a positive impact on the world they live in.

We have an experienced SENDCO who has extensive knowledge of additional needs including Autism Spectrum traits and Speech and Language needs.
Our Environment
The Old Library Day Nursery has a fantastic reputation for providing a “homely feel” environment for the children. We continue to provide this by making the setting a fun, caring and comfortable place to be.
From the age of two years old, your child can start their Old Library Day Nursery journey. Here they will experience play activities to support their next stages of development. Your child can enjoy role play, messy/creative play, sand and water, maths and literacy activities and much more. There is also a dedicated area should your child need a rest in the day.
As your child progresses through our nursery, they will learn key skills to enable them to become confident and ready for school. We encourage the independence of the children through creating individual next steps and using our resources to ensure your child fulfils their potential. We offer ballet, German language, football (Little Kickers), aerobics, yoga and mindfulness and language enrichment sessions alongside responsibilities of caring for our pets and learning how to self-regulate our own emotions.
Our Outdoor Environment
At The Old Library Day Nursery, we understand the importance of outdoor time. We have an outdoor space where our children can explore freely, feel the wind in their hair and make supported choices in regard to their own risk taking as well as learning crucial skills of interacting with their peers in a safe environment to help navigate early relationship building.
Our Approach To Learning
At The Old Library Day Nursery, we believe children develop best when they are immersed in a world that inspires awe and wonder therefore it is our priority to create an environment that your child can become absorbed in, so they can be creative and motivated whilst playing and exploring.
At The Old Library Day Nursery, your child will be developing their first stages of learning. Through continuous and individually planned activities alongside Montessori inspired Busy Work, your child will begin to learn and develop through a world of play.
“Play is the work of the child” – Maria Montessori
Your child’s learning experiences are planned around the Birth to Five Matters and will help to promote and develop:
- Communication and language
- Physical Development
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding The World
- Expressive Arts and Design
At The Old Library Day Nursery, we recognise all children are unique. Our children will choose their own key person within their first few weeks here, who will help develop their abilities and individuality based on your child’s own special interests and needs.
We will do this by working closely with you as parents and by forming strong parent partnerships. It is our aim to help create happy, confident, creative children, making them good communicators and having positive attitudes to learning so that they can progress well on their journey into the future.
